For Sale By Owner

A beautiful blue masterpiece.
To many, this is the face of Alfa Romeo.
The face of the iconic Italian sportscar.

Without a doubt, the Bertone 105 is a true Italian icon. Penned by legendary auto-designer Giorgetto Giugiaro while he was working with Bertone design house. The body-style is widely acclaimed as the most beautiful body produced by Alfa, period. It was so well-loved that Alfa produced it from 1963 until 1978 in several different engine & trim levels - Sprint GT Veloce, GT 1300 Junior, 1750 GTV, GT 1600 Junior, and the 2000 GTV.
Nevermind what the world thinks - the car has lit my heart on fire ever since I was a small boy. I can still remember watching replays of Alfa GTA race cars in the 2L class whooping ass in Trans Am races. What a joy it was to watch the lovely little Alfas running around V8 giants!

Well, in Singapore it is difficult to own a GTA - word has it there are only 2 in the country, but any of the Bertone 105 cars is next best, and that is also why this car has some GTA goodies - GTA 4-into-1 exhaust headers and also GTA replica alloy wheels.

With the K&N cone filters and the Weber DC40OE twin-carburettors, and the GTA exhaust headers, this Alfa sings the most exciting motor tune I've ever heard. Everytime I climb through the RPM range it is like an orchestra of celestial musicians singing VRROOOOOmm..aaaAAAOOOUUURRR in hair-raising unison - enough to make any petrol-head religious.

Born a legend

It comes as no surprise that the Bertone 105 cars were so remarkable. They were produced during a time when Alfa Romeo wasn't just a car company, or even just a racing company... it was an era when Alfa Romeo was magic.

Consider the kind of die-hard gathering that follows the Alfas of this era until now - the Alfisti, a group who collectively refer to their cars as their girlfriends/mistresses/wives. They are also a group who collectively feel their hair-stand every occasion that they take their Alfas out, and curiously cackle to themselves as they make a ruckus driving out of a tunnel.

Consider that till today, the Bertone 105 cars are still considered by car journalists & afficionados as one of the purest and most magical driving experiences in existence.

Consider the perfect symmetry and balance of Alfa's twin-cam motor, a company so advanced that it started using twin-cam motors in their production cars from 1954. While the twin-cam was already recognized as the most efficient type of internal combustion engine, used in all competitive race cars, the Alfa truly stood out as a production car using this advanced engine technology.

Consider that the Weber 40DCOE twin-carburettor, installed as standard equipment in this Alfa, is till today still the favourite carburettor of tuning enthusiasts.

Consider that even in the 60s, Alfa had already equipped these cars with 5-speed gearboxes and 4-wheel disc brakes.

Consider that Alfa already understood driver's dynamics well enough to position the driver exactly between front and rear axles for optimum balance and driving sensation.

Timeless lines

Car design is a fascinating thing.

One never knows a classic until it has stood the test of time. In the case of the Bertone 105, Giugario's lines have remained virtually unchanged since 1963.

Gaze at the photos and contemplate the perfect balance of his lines, the flow of energy carried by the simple shape, so understated yet so beautiful. The balance of the car's proportions are so pleasing that every detail of the car communicates flow and beauty. Even when stationary, the GTV appears to be in motion, like a cheetah poised on its hind legs for leaping forward.

A true classic - even after 40 years, the design does not look dated.

Giugario's design is beautiful from every angle, and you will be hard pressed to catch an ugly side to the GTV - there just isn't one.

An Alfa GTV is not just about the tastiest sounding motor known to man, or piloting a revolutionary piece of machinery.

It is also about being in an aesthetic masterpiece.
